The future of Bank Treasury: the long-term outlook

BTRM in association with FinRisk, The Financial Risk London Chapter and Prometeia

12 July 2016

The BTRM held the 4th in its series of Faculty Forums. This latest Forum discussed the evolution of the Bank Treasury function and how it must address the post-crash imperative of the optimised balance sheet and help the bank deliver outstanding customer service.

The BTRM Faculty Panel seeked to answer the question, "What does the Treasury operating model look like in 2020?".

Issues addressed include:

  1. How to organise Treasury within the balance sheet risk triumvirate of Treasury, Finance and Risk to achieve strategic origination policy
  2. Reporting lines and scope of responsibility: what lies where?
  3. Achieving proactive balance sheet management in order to solve a 3D optimisation problem: meeting the needs of regulators, shareholders and customers in the most effective and efficient way

Expert panellist:

  1. Professor Moorad Choudhry
