What happened to the recovery in Europe?

Tuesday, 19 February 2019, 15.30-16.00 (after the session in Italian)

Uncertainties about the global economic outlook are increasing. The forward-looking indicators point to a US slowdown in addition to China's difficulties related to maintaining a high growth rate. Against this, the euro area already experienced a sharp slowdown in 2018 and the prospects for 2019 are uncertain, not least because of the difficulties related to quantifying the effects of Brexit and resolution of US-China trade tensions.

In this 30-minute webinar, we take stock of the outlook for the European and Italian economies, and update the Prometeia Associazione forecasts. While discussing Europe, we will focus especially on Germany, to try to assess whether the current slowdown is likely to stabilize or whether it heralds the start of another recession. In the context of Italy, we will focus on the recent decline in political uncertainty and the prospects for "quota 100" and the citizenship income.

The presentation will last 20 minutes and afterwards participants will be able to ask questions.

Panelists: Lorenzo Forni, Stefania Tomasini, Lorena Vincenzi.
